In the 1984 debut of Transformers Season 1, Megatron leads the ruthless first generation of Decepticons in relentless pursuit of Optimus Prime and the Autobots, their war spilling from Cybertron to Earth after both factions crash land and awaken millions of years later. 

Establishing Earth as a strategic base, Megatron schemes to harvest its abundant energy resources while maintaining contact with his coldly logical second-in-command, Shockwave, who remains on Cybertron to oversee operations there. 

Alongside his core forces, Megatron commands specialized sub-groups like the feral, energy-draining Insecticons and the formidable Constructicons, whose combined form, Devastator, embodies the Decepticons’ destructive might as they wage war to dominate both Earth and the galaxy.
