Dominating the expanded Decepticon ranks of Season 3 was the colossal Trypticon, a city-sized war machine that transformed into a fearsome mechanical Tyrannosaurus Rex, serving as both a mobile fortress and ultimate symbol of Decepticon brute force under Galvatron’s rule.
Alongside him came an array of new warriors who embodied the evolving scale and chaos of the conflict: the Predacons, savage hunters engineered for destruction who combined into the immensely powerful Predaking - arguably the most physically dominant combiner of them all; the monstrous Terrorcons, whose grotesque forms merged into the feral and unpredictable Abominus; and the cunning Triple Changer Octane, whose shifting loyalties and fuel-dealing schemes made him as dangerous as he was opportunistic.
Adding to the ranks were the reckless mini-car twins Runamick and Runabout, whose anarchic tendencies thrived in chaos, while Soundwave’s expanding cassette arsenal introduced Slugfest, Overkill, and Ratbat, each bringing their own specialized abilities in surveillance, sabotage, and leadership, with Ratbat even rising to command in certain storylines.
Together, these new Decepticons reinforced Season 3’s darker, more cosmic tone, showcasing a faction that had grown not just in numbers, but in raw power, unpredictability, and internal complexity.
